Michael Macedo
Michael Macedo, LICSW, helps adolescents, adults, and seniors across Rhode Island navigate life's most difficult emotional and psychological challenges, with compassion and clinical expertise. Michael works closely with each client to create a space of safety, clarity, and support empowering them to develop insight, resilience, and meaningful tools for long-term change. Michael specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and alcohol and drug use concerns. With a collaborative, person-centered approach, he uses evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients understand the root causes of their distress and build healthier habits and coping strategies. He also works with couples to strengthen communication and connection, particularly in the face of relationship stress, midlife transitions, or grief. Michael has a strong passion for supporting individuals with adult autism and neurodiversity. He brings experience and sensitivity to the unique mental health needs of neurodivergent adults, offering a therapeutic space that respects identity and fosters growth. He also provides compassionate care for those navigating psychosis, chronic pain, and PTSD-related concerns. His work includes supporting diverse populations such as first responders, and those who work in the mental health field. Outside of the therapy room, Michael finds balance and inspiration through competitive distance running, cycling, and hiking. He also enjoys music, cooking, and spending time with animals.
